1 And 2 Samuel: An Introduction and Commentary (Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries, 7)
Published in Hardcover by Intervarsity Press (March, 1989)
Authors: Joyce G. Baldwin and Donald J. Wiseman
Average review score:

Baldwin's book is a concise christian oriented commentary.
Baldwin's book is a concise christian oriented commentary on the Book of Samuel. Baldwin's book is for the reader who wants a quick reference to better understand the Book of Samuel 1 & 2. However, the academic may become a little perturb when reading the book because Baldwin on occasion proselytizes. Baldwin undoubtedly has a firm understanding of not only the Book of Samuel, but also the bible in general. I would recommend the book to anyone who is attempting to quickly understand some of subtleties contained in the Book of Samuel, however, I am sure there are more thorough commentaries published for the more serious of mind.

Baldwin from Another Planet (Clueless)
Published in Paperback by Simon Pulse (March, 1997)
Author: H. B. Gilmour
Average review score:

Beverly Hills and Italy Combine!
Cher meets an Italian baldwin. She wants to get to know him but he has a great aura of mystery around him and is upset at his parents divorce. All in all, I'd say it wasn't the best book, but it was a different topic & funny in the classic Clueless tradition. One thumb up.

Conversational Portuguese in Seven Days
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books (May, 1991)
Authors: Hilary Fleming, Iza Moneiro Rainbow, Shirley Baldwin, Sarah Boas, and Izo M. Rainbow
Average review score:

Good starter book or for the traveler
This is a good starter book, excellent for travelling and getting around in Portugal. The audio lessons are pretty well done, but there is not a clear definition of what is brazilian vs continental portuguese pronunciation. My wife successfully used this book as the text for an introductory Portuguese class

Deceiving the Soul

Deceiving the Soul - Review
Deceiving the Soul has a very interesting concept that allowed the author to create twists and turns throughout the story. He successfully was able to go into great detail about the various entities in the story, taking me on a path I wasn't aware that I was on until he returned to the plot at hand. The character and setting detail described by the author made it very easy to imagine everything as he meant it to be. The idea that the author put in my mind as I read the story kept building throughout the story, which made the situation that the main character was really in more surprising toward the end of the book. The book tells a great story, and it is told very well by the author. It does become a bit difficult to read with the various grammer and spelling errors, but I would recommend the book to anyone desiring to read a twisting thriller.

Financial Accounting: Information for Decisions
Published in Hardcover by South-Western College/West (August, 1997)
Authors: Robert W. Ingram and Bruce A. Baldwin
Average review score:

Just an ordinary accounting book
The book is overall quite good as an introductory text for accounting, but there are other books out there, equally good, that come a lot cheaper.

Fools, Martyrs, Traitors: The Story of Martyrdom in the Western World
Published in Hardcover by DIANE Publishing Co (January, 1997)
Author: Lacey Baldwin Smith
Average review score:

Author Shows Martyrdoom Takes Ego, and Some Preparation
Lacey Baldwin Smith has crafted an engaging book that investigates great martyrs through the centuries. Although the book is subtitled, "The Story of Martyrdom in the Western World," it is rather a careful review of primarily English speaking "martyrs", and the events that lead up to their demise.

Some of the greats, such as Thomas Becket, do not bear well to close scrutiny. Indeed, some across as ravenous murderers: John Brown, in particular, is revealed to be little better than a common terrorist. But many of these individuals had great stage presence and oratory power they used to their advantage when finally put before the docket. Many also had an incredible ego and were incapable of understanding their opponents concerns or views. And not a few wanted martyrdom and forced their opponents' hands to achieve their goal.

The author's selection of martyrs (because he focuses upon English speakers) is a bit uneven. However, the author's short digression into martyrs of the Holocaust was interesting and ethically valuable.

The author provides photos or illustrations of the main protagonists which help to imagine them in more human light. The endnotes and index are excellent, and the writing itself is entertaining if a bit caustic on occasion. Omitted is much discussion of the political campaigns that helped these fools and traitors be designated as martyrs. Despite this, Smith has created a unique, fun, and educational book you're sure to enjoy.

A Job for Jenny (Thorndike Large Print Candlelight Romance)
Published in Hardcover by Thorndike Pr (Largeprint) (September, 1997)
Author: Faith Baldwin
Average review score:

My first book by Faith Baldwin
Jenny was a 20 year old who was promoted as secretary to the shipyard manager, Justice. She had a married sister, Ede, who was having an affair with Justice. Jennny thought she could divert him and show Ede what a cad he was. Both were living with their grandmother. Steve, who was older than Jenny, was a very good friend, and was fighting in the war. He had planned to be a surgeon when he got out of the service. He had injured his hand during the war and would not be able to be the surgeon he had dreamed of. In fact he would have to be a GP. This book did have an ending different than I imagined. It was better than I thought it would be.

Little man, little man : a story of childhood
Published in Unknown Binding by Joseph ()
Author: James Baldwin
Average review score:

defines the perception of a child
Little man, little man, actually took me a while to read. The language in the book can be confusing and often times the reader is unaware of what the author (James Baldwin) is talking about. The book does get better as it progesses and the end is somewhat suprising...I promise. I recommend reading this book for leisure and not for a book report (you would have a hard time writing about it). Hope I helped.
